Altura Learning is further strengthening its leadership in aged care compliance and clinical education, appointing former Inspector-General of Aged Care Natalie Siegel- Brown as Strategic Advisor, while Dr Roshmeen Azam transitions to a Strategic Advisor role focused on clinical governance.
Ms Siegel-Brown’s appointment follows the conclusion of her term as Australia’s first statutory Inspector- General of Aged Care in July 2026. Her appointment brings significant independent, system-wide experience to Altura Learning at a time when providers are embedding the new Aged Care Act and Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards into everyday practice.
Together, the two appointments build on more than 20 years of investment in the clinical and sector expertise behind Altura Learning’s content, which now reaches more than 175,000 learners across 400 organisations.
Ms Siegel-Brown will work with Altura Learning’s leadership and education teams on governance, quality, safety and rights-based care, helping inform their learning portfolio with the voice of older individuals. Her guidance of Altura Essentials, the video-based compliance learning suite supporting providers through the current aged care reforms, will continue.
Before becoming Inspector-General, Ms Siegel-Brown was Commissioner for Social Policy at the Productivity Commission and Queensland Public Guardian. As Inspector-General from January 2025 to July 2026, she led independent oversight of the Australian Government’s administration and regulation of aged care during one of the sector’s most significant periods of reform.
“Legislation and standards only become real when the workforce understands them and is equipped to act on them,” Ms Siegel-Brown said. “Altura Learning works at exactly the point where reform either takes hold or falls away, helping staff understand not just what the Act and Standards require, but why, and what they mean for the older person in front of them.”
Dr Roshmeen Azam will transition to her Strategic Advisor role after more than two years leading Altura Learning’s clinical content and Nurse Educator team as Chief Medical Officer.
Since joining Altura Learning in 2024, Dr Azam has played a central role in strengthening the clinical rigour of its learning portfolio. She has led the alignment of content to the Strengthened Standards, supported the development of Altura Essentials and introduced the concise 15-minute learning format now used across its compliance suite.
In her new role, Dr Azam will continue to provide clinical expertise across Altura Learning’s content and product development, with a particular focus on how clinical risk is recognised, escalated and managed by care staff. “Clinical governance is where quality and safety stop being a framework on paper and become something staff do at the bedside and in people’s homes,” Dr Azam said.
Chief Executive Officer Paul Goudie said the appointments reflected Altura Learning’s longstanding commitment to combining strong learning design with genuine clinical and sector expertise.
“For more than 20 years, our courses have been developed with clinicians and sector experts and mapped to the standards providers are required to meet. Roshmeen has been central to strengthening that clinical foundation since she joined us, and her new advisory role means we can continue to draw on her expertise as our portfolio evolves,” Mr Goudie said.
“Natalie brings a perspective that is rare in our sector. She has seen aged care reform, regulation and provider performance from an independent, system-wide vantage point. Having her insight alongside Roshmeen’s clinical expertise strengthens how we design, assure and evolve our learning.”
The appointments come as Altura Learning continues to expand its learning portfolio and respond to the changing needs of aged care providers, with a growing focus on practical, video-based learning that helps workers understand requirements and apply them in real care settings.
