Karen is a skilled leadership development professional with over 25 years’ experience in designing and implementing leadership and management development programmes to assist individuals, teams and organisations achieve their goals. She has a proven track record of successful work across the private, public and third sectors. Karen is currently Programme Head for Leadership and Management at Skills for Care (SfC) where she leads on the design and delivery of support and development for leaders and managers across the social care sector in England. Prior to this, she was Leadership and Management Specialist at Skills for Justice (SfJ), working with employers, practitioners and service users across the UK to co-create the development resource Learning about collaboration in action (SfJ, 2013). In both her current and previous roles, Karen has applied her knowledge and experience in research and leadership development in adopting an appreciative inquiry approach to the identification of the leadership capabilities needed for effective cross-sector collaboration. Most recently this has included the engagement of 500 social care leaders and managers in co-designing SfC’s development offer to the sector - New visions for leadership (SfC, 2017).
